Love was certainly in the air on our April 15-22 Honolulu Highlights & Majestic Maui tour, with one couple getting married on Oahu and another getting engaged on Maui! The excitement began before the tour when George Richmond and Regina Rivers revealed to me on our pre-tour call that they plan to get married during the group’s leisure day on Oahu. They had been engaged for over a year and originally planned to have a wedding with family and friends, but that changed when they received information on Holiday Vacations tours. They decided to sign up for the Honolulu Highlights & Majestic Maui tour and thought, “Hey – why not get married while we’re in Hawaii?” They began researching and communicating with contacts in Hawaii to make their special day happen. When their “together for forever” day arrived, everything was spectacular. They took a limo ride to beautiful Waialae Beach Park where they met their officiant and photographer for a beautiful oceanside ceremony. Afterwards, they returned to the hotel with champagne and a small wedding cake awaiting the newly married Mr. and Mrs. Richmond to enjoy!
We also had the joy of being present for a wonderful engagement while the group was on Maui. Mark Wieland and Nora Hamilton had signed up for the tour back in December, but at the last minute on the day of departure, Mark was unable to go. Nora decided to still go as she had really been looking forward to exploring Hawaii’s tropical paradise. However, a few days into the tour, Mark reached out to the Holiday Vacations team to share that he plans to fly out and surprise Nora when the group arrives at Maui airport. One of the Lead Tour Sales Consultants, Alyssa, then contacted me so we could coordinate getting Mark back on the tour beginning in Maui. Nora was incredibly happy and shocked to see Mark upon landing at the airport, but the best surprise came the following evening. While attending the traditional Drums of the Pacific Luau and Polynesian Show, Mark asked Nora to take a stroll near the beach. As the beautiful sunset created a picture-perfect backdrop, he got down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. Upon returning to their seats at the luau, the newly engaged couple was celebrated with applause from our entire group.
Holiday Vacations tours are always special, but this is certainly one I will always remember. One of the reasons I love being a Tour Director is getting to be part of special moments like these. Congratulations to George, Regina, Mark, and Nora!
