Our adventure begins with a flight to Seattle, our home for the next two evenings.
Day 2 : Tour Seattle
After breakfast we’re off to explore the vibrant “Emerald City” with a guided tour. Soak up iconic landmarks, rich culture, and intriguing history with attractions like Pioneer Square and the Seattle Waterfront. We stop at the Museum of Flight to marvel at dozens of exhibits with thousands of artifacts at the world’s largest independent, non-profit air and space museum. The remainder of the evening is at leisure.
Day 3 : Board the Norwegian Jewel
This morning we enjoy breakfast at the hotel before departing to Vancouver, Canada. We board our cruise ship, Norwegian Cruise Line’s newly remodeled and luxurious Jewel. Our rooms are beautifully appointed and feature floor-to-ceiling glass doors leading out to a private balcony. All meals are included onboard, beginning with today’s lunch. The Tour Director will host dinner on several evenings, allowing fellow travelers to become better acquainted.
Day 4 : Inside Passage
Today we cruise the historic Inside Passage, steeped in stories of the Klondike Gold Rush. Enjoy vistas of soaring mountain ranges, dense forests, and coastal inlets as we glide through this calm, fjord-like waterway. Take time to become acquainted with all of the ship’s fabulous amenities. Delight your taste buds with a wide variety of culinary options, watch impressive acrobatics at Le Cirque Bijou, listen to a live musical performance, try your luck at their award-winning Casinos at Sea®, pamper yourself with a spa treatment, or simply soak up peaceful and breathtaking views with a cocktail on your private balcony.
Day 5 : Ketchikan
We dock in Ketchikan today, the Salmon Fishing Capital of the World. Immerse yourself in this charming port’s rich Alaska Native culture, grab a photo by the iconic “Welcome to Ketchikan” sign, browse the colorful shops along historic Creek Street, or choose one of the many optional excursions offered by Norwegian Cruise Line.
Day 6 : Juneau
Today’s port of call is Alaska’s capital, Juneau. This city can only be reached by air or sea due to its natural setting between the waters of Gastineau Channel, coastal mountains, and forest. Take this opportunity to pursue individual explorations, such as a self-guided walking tour of the downtown area or an optional excursion to soak up the breathtaking sights, including Mendenhall Glacier.
Day 7 : Skagway
Step back in history today as we dock in Skagway, once a booming town serving thousands of stampeders during the Klondike Gold Rush. Nestled within the St. Elias Mountains, this area boasts beautiful scenery and intriguing history. Enjoy an included shore excursion aboard the White Pass and Yukon Route Railway, which follows the gold rush path through remote areas with incredible panoramas of glaciers, mountains, and waterfalls. There is also time for a walk into town to tour the Skagway Museum & Archives, visit the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park Visitor Center, or venture on a scenic bike ride.
Day 8 : Icy Strait Point
Experience “wild Alaska” in Icy Strait Point, where wildlife outnumbers the human population. This is the only port of call in the entire state that is privately owned, allowing all tourism profits to support the town and Indigenous people that have called it home for thousands of years. You may choose to take a stroll to the Historic Museum & Cannery to shop for local crafts, learn about the Huna Tlingit culture, or indulge in fresh fish and chips. You can also purchase one of the many optional excursions including whale watching, cooking lessons, a Jeep adventure, and more.
Day 9 : Hubbard Glacier
Get your camera ready as we cruise into Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve today to view North America’s largest tidewater glacier and one of Alaska’s most iconic natural wonders, Hubbard Glacier. Watch closely as this active glacier calves, sending large pieces of ice into the waters. We may also see harbor seals lounging on the broken ice chunks, sea otters back floating while pups rest on their stomachs, and other fantastic marine animals.
Day 10 : Disembark & Anchorage
We disembark the ship in Seward this morning and board our comfortable motorcoach for a relaxing drive to Anchorage. En route, we stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center for a stroll through the sanctuary and come face-to-face with majestic wildlife. Upon arriving in Anchorage, we gather at Bridge Seafood to enjoy a delicious Farewell Lunch with fellow travelers and celebrate our Alaskan adventure. We then visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center to immerse ourselves in the culture of Alaska’s Indigenous people and learn more about their history. This evening, we begin our journey home with an overnight flight.
Day 11 : Arrive Home
We return home with fond memories of our time in the Last Frontier.
